20 Books of Summer!

Yes, it's that time again, when we choose our reading lists for summer and then proceed to ignore them if we want.  Cathy at 746 Books runs this very relaxed reading event, which will go from June 1 to September 1.

Between my recent reading slump and the fact that I'm going on a TRIP in June (to Germany!!*), I've made an effort to keep my list light.  Much of it is fiction, and some of it is quite easy fiction, though I've also thrown in a chunkster or two.  There are a few titles from countries I haven't hit yet (Italy, Spain, and Jordan) of which one will also count for WIT August, and everything is from my TBR piles.  The titles:

  1. This is How You Lose the Time War, by El-Mohtar and Gladstone
  2. The Honjin Murders, by Seishi Yokomizo
  3. All the Birds in the Sky, by Charlie Jane Anders
  4. The Origin of the Four Branches of the Mabinogi, by Andrew Breeze
  5. Word From Wormingford, by Robert Blythe
  6. Mink River, by Brian Doyle
  7. Lost Island, by Eilis Dillon
  8. Mysteries of the Middle Ages, by Thomas Cahill
  9. Threads of Life, by Hunter
  10. The Vanquished, by Robert Gerwarth
  11. Pillars of Salt, by Fadia Faqir
  12. The Silence of the White City, by Eva Garcia Saenz
  13. No One Is Talking About This, by Patricia Lockwood
  14. The Constitution of Knowledge, by Jonathan Rauch
  15. Honeycomb, by Joanne Harris
  16. Goblin, by Josh Malerman
  17. The Brothers Lionheart, by Astrid Lindgren
  18. The Chess Set in the Mirror, by Massimo Bontempelli
  19. The Dechronization of Sam Magruder, by George G. Simpson
  20. How the Light Gets In, by Lousie Penny

These are all books I'm looking forward to, but should one or two disappoint, I'll go ahead and switch out for others.  Are you going to join the summer reading fun?

*If you're interested to know: I'm accompanying my mom on a tour of Bavaria and a bit of Austria, with the centerpiece being the passion play in Oberammergau.  It was supposed to happen two years ago and be my mom and dad going, but obviously Covid intervened, and now my dad doesn't want to go, so I'm the sub.  I'm excited :)

  1. Hope you enjoy Bavaria, we did a walking holiday there at the time of the solar eclipse. Such an eerie feeling to be walking through the woods when it became dark and the birdsong stopped. Do try apfelsaft (a soft drink made with apple juice).

  3. I always love to see what you are reading---your lists are full of surprises, full of books I'm not familiar with---so I was delighted to find that I've actually read one of the books on your list, The Brothers Lionheart, by Astrid Lindgren.
