And I'm so glad you featured The Age of Homespun—I remember seeing it in my library about a year ago, wanting to read it, and then completely forgetting about it. About 10 years ago, I went through a phase where I was learning about textiles--I even took a spinning class so I could get a feel for what it was like to create thread.

Anyway, I have and loved reading Women's Work. I felt like I learned so much and gained so much respect for the textiles that were created and lost down since time immemorial.

Now I need to read The Age of Homespun and The Golden Thread.

I also delved into dyes and what it took to color the thread and fabric. If you're interested in that topic, I really enjoyed Mauve: How One Man Invented a Color That Changed the World.

Thanks for sharing your expertise on this JaneGShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11094501834387622997noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1817835476996956670.post-25061780379754645642021-11-18T01:48:48.008-08:002021-11-18T01:48:48.008-08:00I’m intrigued by the variety of specialties blogge...I’m intrigued by the variety of specialties bloggers have. The Subversive Stitch sounded interesting - I noticed in your review that you said it didn't go into any aspect in any depth but I think that would be ok for me since I would just be looking for an overviewmercuryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07593119771121495304noreply@blogger.com
