It's a nice piece of the book, as you say, and it disappointed me hugely that the movie went another (worse) way.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1817835476996956670.post-85758797955226365712017-04-28T10:13:06.905-07:002017-04-28T10:13:06.905-07:00I'm becoming tentatively interested in Tolkien...I'm becoming tentatively interested in Tolkien's work, for the first time in my life. I told Ruth yesterday that I think we should have a yearlong reading event for people who fear Tolkien. I was mostly kidding, but it might give me the push. :)*ೃ༄ Jillianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14139487177036647728noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1817835476996956670.post-17026232956377166552017-04-28T07:27:07.169-07:002017-04-28T07:27:07.169-07:00Oh, Ruth, I think you would love them! My kids loved having them read aloud, so that might be a good plan. :)Jeanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14247515387599954817noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1817835476996956670.post-55627210777256491102017-04-28T05:50:28.488-07:002017-04-28T05:50:28.488-07:00I've not read TLR trilogy, and I am not famili...I've not read TLR trilogy, and I am not familiar with the story. I haven't even seen the films. (I've only read The Hobbit.) I feel like this is something I have to commit myself to once I start, or be inspired by an outside work (like the one Jillian just read: A Hobbit, a Wardrobe, and a Great War). Something tells me I will enjoy them, but I haven't made the commitment, yet. Maybe I'll plan to read them to my younger ones, who have only seen the movies.
