Your recap of events was good because I swear I wouldn't have the first recollection of what it was about. I have vague impression of the lady disappearing from a tower, but that's about it. What I don't understand is why the girl keeps wearing it knowing the screw is lose. I'd have given up altogether. I love mystics in general because they're just so darn weird and I am HERE for it -- but on a personal note, reading this book helped to steady me in my faith at a time when I wasn't sure I could carry on being Catholic while being so acutely critical of the Church. Various of the ways that Julian writes about her experience of God were so resonant with mine, and she just helped me see a path for what it could look like for ME to be Catholic as an adult. I love her. I wear a necklace every day with her "all shall be well" quote on it, and it's my comforting little talisman.Jenny @ Reading the Endhttps://readingtheend.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1817835476996956670.post-6979709696579303802024-01-21T06:38:59.818-08:002024-01-21T06:38:59.818-08:00I'm rooting for It Can't Happen Here or Am...I'm rooting for It Can't Happen Here or Amerika.Deb Nance at Readerbuzzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12128529491888701996noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1817835476996956670.post-84802785997714471282024-01-18T12:25:24.943-08:002024-01-18T12:25:24.943-08:00Thanks! Plus, when I found out this sequel followed a hit musical made from the first book, and was designed to be material for another musical, it made much more sense to me. They were often occupied by well-to-do unmarried men, as as shopping, cooking and washing up (and housework) was a very time consuming job in those days, and almost impossible to combine with a full time job. Poorer single people often lived in boarding houses if they couldn't live with their parents. Michelle Annhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07499490029910905577noreply@blogger.com
