Looking forward to the rest. I didn't know that it was based on a book. Putting it on my TBR -- thanks!

Thanks for sharing this with British Isles Friday. I started watching the series a few weeks ago - it took me a few episodes to really get into it, but now I'm onto the second series and I have to admit that it's really grown on me. I feel like it's a little less soapy than Downton so far, and there are some very endearing characters in it, who I think do embody that spirit of hard work for the benefit of the community. I'm glad to know that the WI is still going strong. :) And I would love to read Mrs. Miles' Diary!Jeanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14247515387599954817noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1817835476996956670.post-57453916079193630862016-04-24T15:26:26.822-07:002016-04-24T15:26:26.822-07:00Have you had a chance to watch more of Home Fires ...Have you had a chance to watch more of Home Fires yet? We are just starting the second series here in the UK, and I love it. The WI is still going strong today. We had our 100th birthday last year! I live in what is technically a city (but only just!) and our branch is the biggest in the UK. Although times have changed, I think the WI at the heart of Jambusters is still beating in the WI today.

I've just read a book you might enjoy - Mrs Miles' Diary by Constance Miles, it is the diary of an ordinary housewife during WW2 in England. I couldn't put it down! Hubby and I quit watching Downton after a couple of seasons but we love Home Fires so far!Kristen M.https://www.blogger.com/profile/02335598194501733541noreply@blogger.com
